This is a psychotherapeutic method which allows to tackle some troubles linked to situations lived as traumatic and which can lead to reminiscences and/or some inappropriate behaviors in everyday life, or even to post-traumatic stress behaviors (flash-backs, hypervigilance, shunning behaviors, emotional instability, withdrawal, loss of interests, sleeping problems, even insomnia, etc.).
Due to the neurological process created by EMDR, the brain is stimulated in such a way that it will be better fit to “digest” some traumatizing memories from the past and which lead to maladjusted conducts in the present. In this way, the traumatizing souvenirs of the past loose their negative affective impact, which will put an end to the suffering and the harmful reactions.
EMDR treatment can also be used to fight phobias, nervous breakdowns and chronic pain.
